Miko Seafood supports the UN’s sustainability goals
The UN’s sustainability goals are the world’s common agenda for sustainable development that makes it possible to continue to increase prosperity based on economically, socially and environmentally sustainable principles.
We therefore want to actively support the UN’s sustainability goals and have chosen to implement these in the company’s strategy.
All sustainability goals are important in themselves, and if the world is to succeed with the global goals they must be seen in context. Different companies will have different prerequisites for being able to influence the individual goals. Miko Seafood has carried out an analysis of the sustainability goals and how we as a business can influence. Based on our ambitions regarding further development of the business, we have identified 4 goals where we can make a difference.
8. Decent work and economic growth
Miko Seafood strongly believe in diversity, entrepreneurship and innovative solutions, also in small and medium-sized enterprises. We want to improve the utilisation of resources through diversification, technological progress and innovation. This is already reflected in the entire Miko group.
12. Responsible consumption and production
Miko Seafood focuses on sustainable management of resources, and will do its part to contribute to reduced food waste. We are already doing this in collaboration with Miko-Trading, a company in the Miko group that specializes in damaged lots that would otherwise have been thrown away.
14. Life below water
Miko Seafood seeking primarily cooperation with players who have defined strategies towards sustainability management and action against ocean acidification.
17. Partnerships for the goals
Miko Seafood is aware that there is exploitation of the weak in the fisheries, and that there is widespread corruption in the world. Miko Seafood is therefore careful in its choice of partners.
